As explained in a recent article Expect Food Shortages, there is a lot to be concerned about. However, this information is not to put people into fear. I want people to be proactive and get involved in communities.

Another video from The Ice Age Farmer, he goes into some great detail about further problems coming from our food supply.

Don’t panic, start to boycott supermarkets when possible. Start using small local businesses, even if you live in urban areas; make a point of using butchers, bakers, greengrocers and fish mongers. It may seem an inconvenience, however, its ethical as it supports the little man.

Also, by developing a relationship with your local shops; when there are problems with food shortages, you will be in a much better position. Also, if you do have space to grow your own food, start doing it yesterday! Not only will it save you money as food prices go up exponentially, it is also healthy and you will know there are no toxic pesticides and have great control of the quality of your food.

When you grow your own food, you can also pick it when you need it, this also saves on wastage and is another reason why the quality of your food will improve.

The last thing I recommend you look into is how to store food, preserve it and keep a good inventory of all the items you have. A good rule of thumb is to aim for having enough to keep you going from 3 – 6 months.

This is easier said than done, so please take your time to read the previous article and follow the steps explained within it.
